Pacheco is self taught and began PETA with no members, no business experience, no training, no money, no staff, no office and no college degree. As Chairman he oversaw the raising of over $60 million during his last five years with the organization.

- ... and many others; the largest single special event was a Black Tie Gala at Paramount Studios with 1,000 guests (such as Charles Bronson, et. al.); it was co-hosted by Paul McCartney, Kim Basinger, Alec Baldwin, Ellen DeGeneres, and Woody Harrelson and underwritten by John Paul Mitchell Systems, with live performances by Paul McCartney, Chrissey Hynde of the Pretenders and The B-52's. It aired on VH1 and raised over $2 million.
- Pacheco secured a single gift of $1 million from the late Doris Duke, and served as executor for a $3.6 million estate and bequest.
He has direct mail experience with an average of 12 million pieces of mail annually and as Chairman oversaw a $500,000 promotional merchandise program, production and marketing of music albums and CD's featuring songs by The Red Hot Chili Peppers, The B-52's, Chrissey Hynde, k.d. Lang, Paul McCartney, and others.
He is recognized as an accomplished no frills go-getter who spends money suing the government to force the government to enforce the laws against cruelty to animals.
